Hey there!
My name is Amanda Cartwright and the first step to recovery is admitting you have a problem. I am Amanda Cartwright and I have been considering starting a blog for years now. There I said it.
I will admit I do have one blog with my best friends that was started years ago. We took the idea of Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants and converted it into our own Sisterhood of the Traveling Apron/Blog and post our recipes that we deem scrumptious enough on our group blog. Through the years we have all graduated college, gotten married, made our way through boyfriends, traveled many miles from the place we all call home, and cooked and baked our way through life and have let the blog fall by the wayside. But, in my opinion, it is completely understandable.
Now, I told you that story to tell you this story. Today is Sunday, July 17th, 2016. I am sitting on the balcony of my apartment in Oxford, Mississippi reading my daily devotional which begins
"Come away with me for a while. The world with its nonstop demands, can be put on hold"
So here I go, starting my own.
I'm sure many of you may understand the all second guessing that I have found in myself every time it comes to starting something like this. Nerves will get the best of you (and, boy, did they get me!). But today, all it took was reading His word and His perfect timing to send me the perfect devotional for the day to give me jut enough confidence to start this journey.
There is no real plan for this tiny, little, comfy, velvety space online other than to express thoughts, feelings, relationships, recipes, and of course Him. A place for us all to go on a journey together having time spent away from the nonstop demands.
So, this being the first of many,
Welcome to The Velveteen Blog!
This is a great idea and reminder to put the world's nonstop demands on hold! It sounds easy but you have to be disciplined to do it.
ReplyDeleteSo I'll share one of my favorite Bible verses: May the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be pleasing unto you oh Lord my Rock and my Redeemer.
I can't remember which book, chapter, or verse it is but I say it in the elevator every morning as I go to my office. It helps!
